  • 2009: PhD Project: “Generación, caracterización y posible aplicación de una línea transgénica murina reportera para la quimioquina CXCL2”. Program PROINBIO, Facultad de Medicina, UdelaR. Tutor: Dr. Martin Rumbo, Co-tutor: Ana Maria Ferreira.
  • 2009: National Veterinary Academy Award. “Generation of transgenic animals in Uruguay. From the veterinary sciences to biomedicine”. M. Crispo, G. Schlapp, M. Cardenas-Rodriguez, AP Arévalo, G Fernandez, M Rumbo.
  • 2009: Laboratory Animal Specialist Award of the International Council for Laboratory Animal Research (ICLAS). The Award consists in the registration to the ICLAS meeting in Denver, CO, and the travel cost (U$S 2000).
  • Collaboration in research projects that needs manipulation of mice inside the SPF facility (Trypanothione biosynthesis as a basis for drugs against trypanosomes, M. Comini) (Rol de la IL-17 en la inmunoprotección de las mucosas de vías respiratorias, A. Chabalgoity) (Inmunoterapia anti-cáncer de colon utilizando antígenos de Trypanosoma cruzi. E. Osinaga) and others.
  • Collaboration in research projects: “Oxitocina y variabilidad en el comportamiento parental”. D. Olazábal (PI) and “Estudio de la función del gen Srsp1 mediante el desarrollo de un ratón knockout”. A. Geisinger (PI).
  • 2009 - Collaboration between Centro Multidisciplinario para Investigación Biológica (CEMIB), Unicamp, Brasil and UATE: "Desarrollo de investigación científica, tecnológica e intercambio en el área de animales de laboratorio".
  • 2009 - Draft of the first national law in animal experimentation, with representatives of the IIBCE (C. Scorza), CHEA (A. Silva, L. Domínguez) and AUCyTAL (JM Verdes). The above mentioned law was approved in September 2009 by senators and deputies. This law will regulate the animal experimentation in the whole country, with accreditation for the researchers and users of animal facilities. We believe that it is a great achievement that the IP Montevideo had participated in this commission and that the law has been approved in such a short time.
  • 2007-2009 – Member of the Directive Board of the Uruguayan Association of Science and Technology for Laboratory Animals (AUCyTAL).

Teaching

  • 2008 - Organizer of the International course “Genetics of Laboratory Rodents” in collaboration with Unite de Genetique Fonctionelle de la Souris, IPParís. Two weeks practical and theoretical course, 20 regional students, USD 63.000 grants (IPParis, EMBO, UNU-Biolac, ISTT).
  • 2007-2009 – Lecture: “Genetics of Laboratory Rodents and its manipulation”. PEDECIBA, Faculty of Veterinary.
  • 2007-2009 – Lecture: “In vitro fertilization and transgenesis in rodents”. PEDECIBA, Faculty of Medicine.
