Service

Two main modes to get access to the unit are available:

    1. Routine Service

For routine analysis, users are welcome to access the UByPA as a “fee for service facility” supported by the Institut Pasteur de Montevideo . The facility offers this kind of service to researchers in the region, with priority given to users from the Institute and local academy. The analysis will be performed by members of our technical staff and will be done following standard protocols. The routine service includes analysis and interpretation of raw data based on routine practices only.

Routine analysis include:

  • 2-D gel electrophoresis;
  • Protein sample preparation for MS analysis: in-gel digestion, in-solution digestion, desalting…;
  • Molecular mass determination for peptides and small proteins by MS;
  • Protein identification by MALDI-TOF/TOF MS (peptide mass fingerprinting, MS/MS ion search) and database search;
  • Protein identification by nanoflow LC ESI tandem MS (nano LC-MS/MS) and database search.

In order to perform a routine service, please contact the Unit’s technical staff to check the availability (ubypa@pasteur.edu.uy). After your request is accepted, please submit the corresponding form to our email adress (ubypa@pasteur.edu.uy) to schedule your analysis:

 Forms to be submitted:

  1. Molecular mass determination for peptides and small proteins by MS
  2. 2-D gel electrophoresis
  3. Protein identification by MALDI-TOF/TOF MS

2. Non routine Service:

The facility welcomes collaborative research on projects beyond routine services. In this case, members of the Unit are expected to significantly contribute to the conception, design of experiments and custom-design protocols, original ideas as well as data analysis and interpretation beyond routine practice.

Non routine analysis include:

  • Custom sample preparation,
  • Post-translational modification analysis,
  • 2-D gel electrophoresis based proteomics,
  • "shotgun" based proteomis,
  • Quantitation,
  • De novo peptide sequencing

Please contact us (ubypa@pasteur.edu.uy) to discuss non-routine research needs, collaboration, and/or consultation. In any case, a great fexibility will be pursued in order to agree on a case-by-case basis on the best way to use the facility
